Privacy Policy

Plain English — what we collect, why, and how you stay in control. Built by a working captain, on the mariner’s side.

What we collect

When you start a profile, we collect what you choose to give us:

• Contact: name, email, and (optionally) phone and general area / ZIP.
• Career details: the job you’re after, experience, credentials (TWIC, MMC, medical, endorsements), typical vessel, waterways, work history, and references — whatever you fill in.
• Your message: anything you write in the optional “what you want employers to know” box.
• Basic site data: an anonymous visit counter, plus the Meta (Facebook) Pixel — a standard measurement cookie that tells us when our Facebook posts and ads bring visitors here, so we can spend our small ad budget wisely. It sees pages you visit on this site, never your profile answers, and never your SSN or documents (we don’t collect those at all). You can block it with any ad blocker or your browser’s tracking protection and the site works fine.

What we DON’T collect

• No Social Security number. Ever. That only goes straight to an employer if you get hired.
• No uploaded documents on this site. If an employer moves forward, you send those directly to them.

Why we use it

One reason: to help good companies find you and reach out. Your profile is what a hiring employer sees to decide you’re a fit and to contact you. That’s the whole job — connect hard workers with employers who are actually hiring.

Who we share it with

• Employers we verify. Your profile is shown to real inland/towboat companies. Your direct contact info is revealed to an employer when they unlock it (or when you get hired). You can hide your profile at any time.
• We do not sell your personal information to data brokers or advertisers.
• Service providers that run the site (e.g. Cloudflare for hosting/security) process data only to operate the service. Our own server stores your profile.
• Legal: we may disclose information if required by law.

Text message (SMS) job alerts

If you opt in on our application form — by checking “Text me matching jobs” and giving us a mobile number — we’ll text you when a job matching your position is posted. This is optional and is never required to use CrewChange Jobs.

• Frequency: only when a matching job posts — typically a few texts a month, sometimes none.
• Rates: message and data rates may apply, depending on your carrier.
• Opt out anytime: reply STOP to any text to stop, or HELP for help. You can also turn texts off from your profile.
• We do not sell or share your mobile number or SMS opt-in consent with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. No mobile information is shared with third parties for marketing. Your consent to receive texts from CrewChange Jobs stays with CrewChange Jobs.

How it’s stored

Your profile is stored on our own server, reachable only through a secure, outbound tunnel — not on an open public port. Access to the admin view is protected by a private key.

Your choices & rights

• Edit or update your profile anytime (we can send you a secure, passwordless link — no account to remember).
• Hide your profile from employers, or delete it entirely.
• Ask us anything about your data, or request a copy or deletion, by emailing us below.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (for example, Florida’s data-protection and breach-notification rules, or GDPR/UK-GDPR if you’re in Europe). We honor deletion and access requests regardless.

Data retention

We keep your profile while it’s useful to you and to employers. If you ask us to delete it, or it’s clearly inactive, we remove it.

Children

This is a job site for working adults. It’s not intended for anyone under 18, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we update this policy, we’ll change the date at the top. Material changes will be made clear on the site.
